Ladakh, the land of high passes, borders Tibet in the east and Pakistan in the west. It is one of the most remote and least populated regions of India. Because of little rainfall the mountains are bare, but around streams and areas with spring water grass lands appear and villages are surrounded by green fields and trees. The varying landscape in Ladakh often is stunning and everywhere you would like to stop to take a picture. There are snow capped mountain peaks of more than 6000 meters high, windswept plains, magnificent blue lakes and mighty rivers in canyons with steep cliffs or wide valleys. Ladakh is part of the fast developing India, but remote villages can be visited where time seems to have stood still.
Ladakh has plenty to offer to all kinds of travelers. It has superb trekking possibilities, ancient cultural sights and many activities can be organized including jeep safaris, cycling, rafting, horse riding, camel safaris, mountaineering, home stay, rock climbing, bird watching, spiritual teaching and volunteer work.
